Today we are much saddened by the passing of KF, our beloved advisor, partner and friend of our IE family!

Indeed it is not just a great loss to Invitational Education in HK and specially in Mainland China , it is also a great loss to the whole of educational field world wide! KF has such global perspective in developing education for the betterment of the next generations that he is the pioneer in advocating education must go beyond the classrooms in the early years of education reform in HK!

He is one of the leaders in the school development team when HK starts the reform in the year 2000 and he contributed greatly in the newly established Regional Education Office ( REO) through leading a no. Of school development initiatives including IE at that time . Schools are greatly inspired by his dedications and knowledge in school development. Indeed quite a no. Of schools are turning around with very good development under his counsel and leadership .

He then took up another role in the parent and school corporation team of the Education Bureau where he further his education beliefs with parents which had laid the foundation for the involvement of parents in the school management board and the establishment of the IMC all over the territory now. His contribution further touch another significant partnership that many schools benefited now. It is the the partnership between schools and the commercial enterprises. Through KF's charisma of being pleasant , open and optimism , large no. Of enterprises and great companies become partners with EDB and offered a lot of scholarships and opportunities to our students of all ages!

KF's last posting is in the Kindergarten Division where he is the few officers who tried to design the free KG education that will come to real in the 2017/18 school year ! He is very dedicated and had smoothing out a large no. Of obstacles.

For the past decades after KF 's involvement with IE, he was always the most dedicated and have a strong drive to bring IE to schools not just in HK and also in the wider circles of his contacts and networks in the Mainland China . His vision starts with several districts of Guongzhou which he had strong link and we, IAIE (HK) had made trips with him to present IE to quote no. Of mainland schools. In fact there are many top GZ schools are adopting IE through KF's continual effort and encouragement even up to now. He did tailor make follow up plans for these schools through regular school visits and have staff development programs with those interested schools all through these years in his spare time usually during weekends. There are also many principals and teachers from the Mainland got a chance to participate in the annual world conference and school visits in the US in the past years . Furthermore , with his passion for those disadvantage kids in the remote areas of China, he started the IE mission in the Lin nam (連南)schools . With his wisdom and connection, he could network those well developed schools in Canton to render regular support to the LinNam schools for the past 10 years. Many of the HK and US educators that had gone with KF to support these remote area schools were greatly touched by KF's vision , dedication and passion to promote quality education via IE to these school kids and teachers!!

Indeed he is greatly respected by schools both in the Lin Nam area and Canton province . Many of the students and teachers are being blessed through his selfless service and touched by his great heart to serving the needed children!!

His action and dedication are so profoundly touched the educators worldwide that many of the principals and teachers like to imitate him to offer themselves to serve others especially in support of the mainland China schools in adopting IE. As KF has served the education field for more than 3 decades not for his own fame, material returns or another gains for his service is voluntary and without demanding any paid from the schools or parties being served. Indeed KF has set a great role IE model for all of us to follow !!

In conclusion, we would like to extend our deepest empathy to the family members of KF and want to express KF had indeed had lived a life must worthy and his way of service to the educational sectors both in HK and the mainland China had indeed blessed thousands of teachers and students !! We will always remember him in our hearts!!

Hi Ah ba aka the selfie king in my family. It has been a grief to my mum, sister and me that you've been suffering from the disease for the last few months, and luckily passing away without suffering a lot of pain.

You have been a strong warrior throughout this two years of fighting cancer. Even in the midst of facing chemo and and the ineffectiveness of any conventional cure methods, you do your best to maintain your health condition and positive attitude and spend time with us and your friends. To someone who does not have a habit to work out daily, you pay effort to work out every week to maintain your condition and spend more time with us. Even you are gradually getting weaker, you still spend time doing grocery shopping, preparing our "ritual" sunday dinner and other dinners during weekdays. We will always rmb "baba choi" and soup with excessive peanuts. Every time when I come back to HK or going to other places, you always pick me up from the airport and carry all the suitcases for me even though they are terribly heavy every singe time. You do your best to spend time with us travelling in the last two years. We will always have this fond memory of your happy face in mind.

Outside of family you are also one of the best educators who helped a lot of schools in HK, and even go beyond your job and helped with the schools in China. You have been very passionate about your job. I am very glad how the good impact you made to different individuals and schools. I remembered you saying getting a job that you passionate at is important for my life. My sister and I will keep this in mind and lead a meaningful life like you do:) Tiff and I will take the legacy forward - being enthusiastic about our lifelong work, treating closed ones with sincerity and contributing to the society whenever we can.

Last of all, I want to thanks for my dad's frd and my closest frd for the support throughout, my family really appreciates it. 在心中 <3 Ah baa you will always be irreplaceable in my life, and I will take care of my mum (okay she will take good care of her two kids two, so we will be in good hands dw) And do what you ask us to do

KF will be greatly missed. He was such a leader and inspiration to me and so many others. I treasure the memories of many trips to Gunagzhou and Liannan. He was selfless in his dedication to serve schools and children with caring and a focus on respect and optimism, which he modeled. I loved so many pictures of him with his family, and of good looking food. He is an unforgettable, wonderful man.

I am firm in my belief that a teacher lives on and on through his students.   Good teaching is forever and the teacher is immortal. “    Author Jesse Stuart

The IAIE Board of Trustees share heavy hearts over the loss of leader KF.      He has been a role model for thousands of educators, improving lives wherever he walked.     We were blessed to have him as a treasured friend, and will always keep his memory close in our hearts.    IAIE will soon formally invite members, friends and family to memorialize his contribution to IAIE.     We are establishing a Memorial Fellowship Fund in KF’s honor.   The fund will provide scholarship registration to the 2017 IAIE World Conference for a deserving student to be selected by the Memorial Fellowship Committee.     In this way, KF will plant even more inviting seeds in future lives.

With Respect,

Allyson Schoenlein, IAIE Board of Trustees Chair
